three fact thursday

Thursday, October 3, 2013

1.  We have had an interesting week.  Last weekend Quinn and I caught some bad colds.  We are just now recovering, and Quinn is finally sleeping better at night again.  Our week was filled with a  lot of cuddling, medicine, and skipping out on our usual activities.  It wasn't all bad (ie. the cuddling--which is sadly not the norm anymore), but we were definitely moving at a slower pace than usual.
2.  There were some lovely moments this week.  Florida weather is beginning to be a little more bearable.  Quinn is also having fun crawling around the house more.  She pretty much follows Beacon everywhere.
3.  We get to see some of our favorite Midwesterners very soon, and are so excited!

Hope your week has been going well.  All I have to say is, keep washing those hands and get your flu shot! ;)

1.  Quinn loves to be outside.  She has been a little fussier than usual this week.  Not sure if it's a tooth coming in or she is just getting more demanding, but sitting outside seems to always chill her out.
2.  Nachos and BBQ.  Need I say more?
3.  We tried a new position with the Ergo.  Quinn seemed to like it!
4.  Three little pumpkins.  One for each of us!  Makes for the perfect centerpiece!
5.  Posted this verse in our kitchen.  It's our motto lately.
Bonus?! That's right.  I couldn't resist including one more fall décor pic.  Plus, I make the rules on this blog.  ;)  Quick warning...This a very dangerous fall decoration, if you choose to do the same!

1.  I went to the beach with my friend, Amy.  I hadn't been to the beach (in FL) since before Quinn was born!  We both were a little excited about the whole event, and got VERY sunburned.  Oopsies.
2.  Matt and I went on a fun date night to Capital Grill.  This is NOT the norm, but they are partnering with some other restaurants this month to get a special deal.  Everything tasted wonderful.
3.  Q had her first hair cut.  It was long over do, but I was nervous to cut her hair.  I literally made about two snips, because she really just needed the hair in front out of her eyes.  Matt kept gasping every time I went in to make a snip and I couldn't stop laughing...not cool when you are trying to cut your baby's hair!!
4.  My big girl is holding her bottle on her own!
5.  And, my big girl turned 8 months this week!  I can't believe it's already time for a milestone post again!

1.  I got a little excited about the Pumpkin Spice Lattes returning to Starbucks.  I will refrain from documenting how many lattes I actually had this week...too many, probably.  Any suggestions for a cheaper option?
2.  I have been babysitting on Mondays.  I am helping out a friend and taking her little guy this fall.  He is a very sweet and low key baby.  Only problem is that both babies are just starting to move around/almost crawl.  Should get pretty interesting in the next month.
3.  I had to snap this pic of Quinn one morning.  There is nothing like a new pair of PJ's on a cute baby.
4.  Crafting is so therapeutic.  I was having a "moment" this week, and so I made these clips for Quinny.  Seriously, find something healthy that is therapeutic for you and don't waste any time mulling around when you have a "moment."  Get up and do something that is good for you!  Maybe it's going for a run, baking, or sewing...just find a "go-to."   {End Tangent} ;)
5.  I tried BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) for the first time.  I have really enjoyed the daily lessons (homework) so far, and have already learned so much.  I was excited to find out later this week that they have room for Q in the infant room, so now we can definitely attend each week!

Matt is giving me a little "mommy break" tomorrow and we are going on a date night.  This makes me a happy, happy wife.
Happy Weekend, friends!

Friday, September 6, 2013

1. I found this cute and random picture on my camera.  This girl is NOT camera shy :)
2.  Beacon likes to perch himself on top of the refrigerator while I feed Quinn in the kitchen.  We have also been listening to some tunes on my ipod--Michael Jackson's greatest hits never gets old!
3.  I told everyone I got bangs last week, so here is a descent picture to show them off.  My hair looks black in this picture, but it's actually just a dark brown.  I am starting to get used to having bangs.  They drove me crazy for the first couple of days, but now I like them.
4.  Target had some awesome clearance last week.  They were getting rid of all of their summer clothes, but it's still 90 degrees here.  That being said, I didn't feel too bad about getting some clothes for me and Q.  Our outfits cost a total of $7 :)
5.  Quinn is eating cheerios now too.  She is growing so fast.  Way past the newborn days, and moving on towards the toddler stage...crazy!!

five fact friday

Friday, August 30, 2013

1.  Quinn is getting closer to crawling each day.  Any suggestions for babyproofing?
2.  Q likes to look at herself in the mirror...such a girl. haha  She has been kissing herself in the mirror and giggling all week.  I hope that means she will have a good self esteem ;)
3.  New fabric came in the mail this week!  Hoping to make some fun fabric pouches with these new patterns.  We don't have any big plans for the holiday weekend, so maybe this would make for a good project.
4.  The blowing raspberries obsession is not just a phase.  I figured I would just let it slide because eventually the fascination with blowing baby food everywhere might go away.  WRONG.  It's getting worse.  Unfortunately, I think this is the stage where I have to begin to teach Q "no."  What is happening to my baby?!  Before I know it she is going to be toddler on the naughty step.  bahhh
5.  This has been my favorite lunch these days.  Amy's Organic GF Vegetable soup.  It's delicious!  I add in cilantro, shredded cheese, avocado, and tortilla chips to make it more substantial.  Mmmm.

*I should also add that I bought my first two bags of candy corn this week and got bangs!  Can you tell I am ready for fall?

Happy Labor Day weekend!

1.  Beacon and Quinn are becoming buddies.  FINALLY!  Quinn has always been interested in him, and she gets excited and smiley when he enters the room.  And, Beacon is finally mellowing out and seems to be pleasantly entertained by Quinn.  We will see how their relationship changes once she starts crawling!
2.  Quinn turned 7 months this week.  It truly does get better and better.  It's really fun to be able to get out more with her and it not seem like a huge deal.  Q also got her FIRST TOOTH this week!  Who knew it could be so exciting?!  Stay tuned for her 7 month collage :)
3.  Lemon been has been keeping me busy this week.  I just added these fabric flowers to the shop.  I think they go well with the fall season.  I have also been busy making my small fabric flowers, which seem to be the favorite in the shop so far!
4.  I love getting cute items like this in the mail!  Charlie Coco's has really cute and unique hair clips, but now Amber is selling headbands too!  So, we decided to try a headband for a change.  I really love the black and white polka dots.
5.  I ordered some clothes from Gap for our family last week when they had a big sale, and we received them in the mail the other day.  This was a REALLY good week for mail.  haha This sweatshirt is one of my favorites.  If it would just cool down enough to actually wear it.  Might be a while.  But, I am already thinking about buying it another color :)

1. Grandma Polly visited us this week!  It was such a treat to have her around.  She loved helping with Quinn, and I loved getting some extra help during the day!  Plus, Matt and I were able to go out to dinner without having to arrange for a babysitter. :)
2.  We lowered the pack n' play for Q to play with her toys.  She was beginning to pull herself up, so we took immediate action!  It's cute to look over and see her actually playing with toys in there.
3.  What visit from Grandma is complete without some good old fashioned spoiling?  Thank you, Grandma!
4.  I know these pictures look strange, but if only you could have smelled the aroma in our kitchen while cooking this meal!  This was my second time caramelizing onions..oh my goodness..it smells like my Grandma Marilyn's kitchen!  I would caramelize onions just for the smell alone!  And, those are sweet potatoes, not carrots ;)
5.  I finished Natalie and Stratton's b-day presents this week.  Hope they like these little zipper pouches (I am working on more for lemon bee too!) to put in their backpacks this year.  I filled them with some fun things like stickers and fruity flavored tic tacs.  I can't believe they will be four and six years old this year!!  (Don't worry, Baby Oliver, I bought you something special too!!)

five fact friday + etsy shop opening

Thursday, August 8, 2013

1-We had a couple of fun playdates this week.  We met with one of my teacher friend's and her daughter (Elani, in this picture), and we also had fun at the pool with our playgroup.
2-I am loving my new Urban Decay eyeshadow (Sin).  I was hearing a lot of good things about their line of eye shadows, so I thought I would try it out.  I bought two, but this one I definitely prefer.  Most of their shadows have a lot of shimmer, which is new for me, but it adds some variety to my collection.
3-I started a gluten-free diet this week.  I have had so much pain in my knees for the past six months that I am willing to try almost anything to make it stop (including not eating normal bread).  So far, I have already noticed less pain which is pretty exciting!
4-I have been trying new recipes from Bread & Wine all week.  This nice thing is that most of the recipes are almost 100% GF.
5-Lemon Bee Studio is officially OPEN!!  I have been looking forward to saying that for WEEKS.  Lemon Bee is an Etsy shop that I have been working on for the past month.  I had been dreaming about it for a while and then finally decided to just go for it.  I hope to write a post eventually on how I went about starting up my own shop.  Make sure to check it out and like lemon bee on facebook

1-Beacon has been spotted sleeping in the playard numerous times this week.  (He looks  a little creepy in this picture with the red eye)  Quinn likes to play in there sitting up now, so of course Beacon wants to try it out too.
2-Quinn is super chatty these days.  She loves to babble and then randomly let out a huge girly scream.  Maybe this is her personality coming out?  It's pretty cute.  Did I mention she woke up in the middle of the night a few times this week and would just babble to herself?  No crying, just had some stuff to say.
3-To add to my vitamin regimen, and new found allergies, I now also go to physical therapy for my knee pain.  I tell ya, pregnancy made me fall apart!  It was kind of nice to have the babysitter come over and get out in the morning for a change.  I was able to go to my appointment and run a few errands.
4-We ate out at one of our new favorite restaurants, Greens and Grille.  It's so fresh and yummy.  I love their bread and hummus!
5-I tried some new make up products (recommended by the small things blog).  I have been using both the cover up and lip gloss every day since I bought them!  The cover up is pretty thin but it works well for summer time (has spf in it).  But, the lip gloss is the BEST!  Almay Nudetrients Liquid Lip Balm <3 p="">

Friday, July 26, 2013

1-I went to coffee with myself last weekend.  It was amazing.  I enjoyed the solo time to recharge (I am definitely more of an introvert!).
2-Look who can sit up all by herself?!  She is getting better and better at it.  A few moms I know told me that their baby started crawling at this age.  I'm already trying to get as much done as possible now, because my productivity is going to take a nose dive once this girl is on the move!
3-Quinn and Aunt Kelsey had a Skype date.  We love her!!!  (I think Quinn might look like her when she gets older.)
4-Q sat in the high chair at a restaurant for the first time.  Of course, it was at Chipotle ;)
5-Just a glimpse of what I have been working on this week.  Let's just say it involved a lot of fabric.  The rest will make sense in the coming weeks!

Happy, happy Friday!

five fact friday

Friday, July 19, 2013

This week was a little different since Matt was out of town for work.  Quinn and I managed to keep busy while he was away.  I have to admit, it was kind of nice not planning dinners this week, but I am looking forward to spending the weekend with my family back together again.

1-Quinn can officially put her paci back in her mouth.  It's so cute, because sometimes she puts it in upside down!
2-Iced coffee is a special treat.  Especially after running around Joann Fabrics trying to find something with little success and no one to ask for help.  And then getting to the check out line to find that it was way too long.  And then just leaving all together :P
3-Quinn turned 6 months this week.  She had to get shots which made for a fussy afternoon.  She is playing with her new pal, Violet, in this pic.  Stay tuned for her 6 month picture and update!
4-We had a girl's night.  Definitely don't have those often enough.  I am very grateful for these mamas!  It was nice to have the company.
5-I have one too many projects going on right now.  I am trying to make stationary in this picture.  I usually work on projects during nap time, but I always push it and try to get a little more done after Quinn gets up.  It's not too productive...I should just give that up.

five fact friday

Friday, July 12, 2013

1-The other night I realized how ridiculous my bed time regimen has become.  Since when have I become such an old lady?!  Top off all of my vitamins with nasal spray, a bite guard, and glasses...and, well you get the picture...it's not pretty.
2-I can get Quinn to hold her bottle for about 20 seconds.  We officially stopped nursing about a week ago.  This little girl loves to mess around when she should be drinking her bottle!
3-Am I the only one whose "guest room" has become a laundry room?  This is just a glimpse of all the laundry that I should be doing right now from being on vacation.
4-Quinn is growing.  I think this is the fourth pair of pajamas where one of her big toes is now poking through.
5-I have some fun things to put on the blog in the next few weeks.  One of the more exciting things is a special giveaway tomorrow!  Make sure to check back so you can enter!

We are still at the lake, but here are five facts from this week.  More pictures to come when we return next week!

1.  We are having SO much fun!  :)
2.  Quinn actually doesn't mind her sunglasses we bought for her on clearance from Target.
3.  On a rainy day we went to Meijer to get pedicures.  Random, I know.  But it got the job done.
4.  We have enjoyed staying with Gigi and Papa.  They love playing with Quinn and helping take care of her.
5.  We are loving all of the fireworks and 4th of July celebrations around here.  So many of our good friends and family are at the lake this week, so it has been nice to catch up with all of them.

Stayed tuned in for more vacation pictures next week and an extra special giveaway!!

Friday, June 28, 2013

Well, I am officially taking a week to RE-CHARGE.  Quinn and I have safely made it to my family's lake house (aka-the best place ever!), and Matt will be joining us in a couple of days!  So, I will leave you with these five facts until next week.  (Happy Early Fourth of July!)

1.  Quinn likes the big girl stroller.  We recently bought this City Mini Jogger, and so far Quinn has really liked being able to look out at everything.  She is still a little small for the stroller but we have been strapping her in well and it seems to work.  I still use the snap and go for errands but I like this stroller for walks or going to the mall.
2.  I have been feeding Quinn prunes, if you know what I mean.  The baby food thing is going well except for the fact that it backs little Q up :/  prunes + sitting in this position + a few grunts and toots=success :)
3.  My nursing days are slowly coming to an end (not necessarily by choice...it just kind of naturally happened).  We are at about 50/50 between breastmilk and formula.  Quinn loves to play with our faces when she gets the bottle.
4.  I am SO excited to be at the lake with my family.  I have been looking forward to this trip for a while.  This picture is from last year when my sister and I were both  preggo.  I am looking forward to the cool breeze and sand dunes!!
5.  Beacon started cuddling with us again.  I think he is finally coming around and has moved to the "acceptance stage" with Quinn being around.  I guess he realized she is here to stay and has accepted his new role in our family.  I love that he is FINALLY adjusting and semi happy again.

Can't wait to share lots of family and beach pictures when we get back!

Friday, June 21, 2013

1.  I finished another dress for Quinn this week.  Of all the places Beacon could sit, he chooses to sit right on top of the dress and all of my other fabric.  (yes, Beacon was shaved this week...)
2.  Quinn went all the way in the pool for the first time.  She was totally relaxed and just took it all in.  We had a fun time with Amy and Eden.
3.  We have been feeding Quinn rice cereal/oatmeal & bananas all week.  She doesn't eat a lot but seems to be open to it.
4.  I am getting my hair done this weekend.  Yay!  Debating if I should continue with the subtle ombre.  Any suggestions?
5.  Matt's uncle is a photographer and took a few family pictures of us at Ben and Kelsey's wedding.  I like this one!

happy friday!!!

five fact friday

Friday, June 14, 2013

1-I began a new sewing project this week.  I am making a diaper cover with ruffles.  So far, so good.  I am little nervous about the ruffles.  Give me a couple of weeks before you see any finished project ;)
2-We had playgroup this week.  It was a smaller group this week but we had the best conversation.  I really needed it too.
3-So, Quinn has been sleeping through the night for the past week (horray!/knock on wood).  Now that I have actually typed those words she will most likely starting waking up again because that's just how it works.  Anyhow, it has completely changed her daytime schedule, so we are figuring that out now :)
4-I went  on a walk one morning before Quinn woke up.  It was nice for about 10 minutes and then the humidity started to get to me...yes, even at 6:30am :P
5-It's Father's Day this weekend.  Matt's first!  Looking forward to celebrating him this weekend!

Have a great weekend!

five fact friday

Friday, June 7, 2013

1-Please type in "Jump Around" by House of Pain as a new station on Pandora.  It's my new favorite station, and perfect for a dull moment (ie. driving to/from work or in the middle of the afternoon when you realize you need to clean).  I was a little disappointed by Quinn's reaction as seen in this pic, but it didn't stop me from dancing around the kitchen!

2-Isn't this little dress cute?  Even better, it was on sale at Old Navy.

3-Afternoon snack...That would be diet cherry coke and frozen thin mints to be exact.

4-I put these teether toys away when Quinn was a newborn, and totally forgot about them. Now she is almost 5 months...woops! I think she will like gnawing on something beside her hands.

5-Quinn graduated from the miracle blanket (swaddle) to the sleep sack this week.  It was a big deal for her.  With her arms free now, she frequently bumps her paci out and replaces it with her thumb. :)

We started a couples small group last night that will last through the summer.  I think its going to be a good time.  So thankful for the community God has provided in our lives!

five fact friday

Friday, May 31, 2013

1-We made it home from a fun and busy wedding weekend for Matt's sister.  Quinn did great.  It was also easier flying this time with Matt there to help me.
2-This Jellycat blanket is sooo soft!  Aunt Janna gave it to Quinn over the weekend.  She likes to try to eat it, like everything else these days.
3-I spy Matt and Quinn sleeping next to each other on the couch.  Matt woke up to a camera in his face...hehe
4-Thank you, Lindsey, for finding this amazing candle.  It can be found at Target and smells just like the Anthropolgie-volcano candle!  It was at least HALF the price.
5-We actually went on a walk this week BEFORE it got too hot outside.  The humidity has offically arrived to Florida.  Getting out before 8 am is the only way to go unless you want to wait until after dinner :P  I am looking forward to Pure Michigan this summer!

five fact friday

Friday, May 17, 2013

1-We confirmed this week at the doctor that Quinn is perfectly healthy.  I was freaking out a little bit because she was not nursing very well.  Turns out our daughter is a genius ;), and has figured out that if she waits long enough we will eventually give her a bottle (which is a lot easier for her to eat from).  I better watch out, this little girl knows what she wants!  Anyhow, she is nursing better now that I am not giving into her bottle obsession!
2-Sometimes I forget how sweet it is to just hold your baby while they sleep.  It's worth letting the dirty dishes sit in the sink for a little while.
3-The Jumparoo came in the mail this week!  Quinn is still a little overwhelmed by it but I think she will warm up to it no time.  She LOVES sitting up (with help) these days.  I also forgot to mention she rolled over from her stomach to back twice this week!  This girl is charging ahead and I'm just trying to keep up!
4-Need I say more?  UGH.
5-Any given day at about 3pm...you can bet there is dark chocolate involved in whatever I'm doing.

Looking forward to a date night this weekend, and Quinn turns 4 months tomorrow!

Keep checking back in the next couple of weeks to see some exciting new things happening on the blog!!
