January

It feels like our life is worlds away from where we were last January. And, I guess it kind of is since we went to Disney World this month with my wonderful family. :)  We went to the Magic Kingdom, went out to eat, hung out at the pool, and did some shopping. Natalie and Stratton are getting so big and it warmed our hearts to be with them! It was definitely a treat to have the whole family here.

This month has been filled with visitors, teaching, sleeping, and meeting new people. I can't complain about Florida in January. One of the best parts is that I walk outside in the morning to this...

Instead of this...
I feel like a little bit of a sell out for saying that, but at least I am being honest. Snow definitely reminds me of home and that's about it at this point!

To all of our Northern friends and family--Hope you are making the most of the snowy winter, and if you need a break from it, we will be here! :)

So, this week was pretty crazy. I went into school for my new job for the first time on Wednesday to meet other teachers, see my classroom, ect. Then they had me completely take over on Thursday. Let's just say that the end of the week was a complete blur. Luckily, the other teachers have been super helpful in getting me acquainted quickly. So back to the picture of our cat, Beacon. On Wednesday night I went to bed early only to be woken up by Matt at about 11 pm. He was in a panic and said that he couldn't find Beacon anywhere. I got up and we began to search EVERYWHERE in our place. I even looked in the refrigerator (haha seriously). Then, we took our search outside. We were worried because it actually got very cold this week. 45 minutes later....NOTHING....we began to think, "What if Beacon is gone?! We lost him!" It was not pretty. When we got back inside I began to look up Animal Shelters and then I heard Matt from upstairs yell, "Oh my gosh!!!!" I ran upstairs and saw that Matt had opened the bottom drawer of his dresser, and Beacon's head was popped out looking at us! We still can't figure out how he got in there but we figured he had been in there for a couple of hours :/ Yikes. This story could definitely make it on that Dateline Mystery show..haha.
Love you, Beak! ;)

First Post of 2012

Matt and I had our two-year anniversary yesterday! I feel like we have been married a lot longer because so much has happened in the past two years! To celebrate, we took a trip to southern Florida (might as well take advantage of living here!). Our first stop was to West Palm Beach to see Kelly, Isom and Laney! It was fun to see some familiar faces :)
Next stop...

Preface: One perk from Matt's previous job is that he racked up some serious hilton honors points :) So, for one night, we thought we would live it up at the Boca Beach Club. We didn't really fit in with the generally New York City/retired/plastic surgery crowd ;) However, it was very entertaining and fun!

need I say more? wow!

It was a short but very sweet trip. We enjoyed the beach and eating out. It was also interesting to reflect on this past year and all that has changed. A short summary goes like this...This past year we went to the Grand Canyon, quit both of our jobs, moved to Florida, got new jobs, and hosted Christmas for the first time. All I have to say is....never say never AND God is good even when you are confused about what he is doing...it all works out :)

One more little recent perk was seeing one of my Wheaton roomates, Amanda! She was visiting home (FL) for Christmas break, and was kind enough to come visit us! We enjoyed lunch, getting our nails did, and just getting caught up on life!

Hope you enjoyed celebrating the new year!
