fall in florida

Sunday, October 27, 2013

We are finally getting some cooler weather in Florida!  I can wear a sweatshirt in the morning, and by afternoon jeans and t-shirt are perfect!  It's wonderful.  We have been enjoying this weather to say the very least!
We have been trying to get out of the house a lot more lately.  Quinn gets pretty bored at home.  She loved going to the park and staring at all of the big kids!
We have been layering up more than usual for our morning walks.
We had fun going to the farmers market over the weekend.

Quinn had her first professional haircut.  It took a whopping 5 minutes.  We take hair very seriously in our family as you can see in the pictures :) Quinn did pretty well.  When Lea started to cut, Quinn panicked a little.  But, we kept her distracted with little toys like combs and iPhones.
We went to the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot for the first time with some friends.  It was fun to try such a wide variety of foods.

nine months

Monday, October 21, 2013

I have really enjoyed my mini blogging hiatus, but I wanted to make sure I wrote Quinn's 9 month post.  I have gotten this far, so I have decided to power through until her first birthday...I can't believe I am even talking about her first birthday!  It's crazy!
I am lucky that I captured the picture above, because the picture below actually sums up how our mini photo shoot really went.  I kind of felt like she was mocking me in this picture.  haha  Ohhh...Quinn
I feel like we are gradually saying goodbye to little baby days and entering the soon approaching toddler days.

Here are some things Quinn loves...
-Animals.  Especially, Beacon, our cat.  There was a day when I thought these two would never get along...mostly on Beacon's part.  But, they entertain each other all of the time now!  They are total buddies!
-Books.  Makes me wonder if she will be a book worm.  She loves to flip through and chew on the pages, and is remarkably still while we read to her.  It amazes me!
-Shopping.  I am just trying to enjoy this while it lasts, because I know at some point she will probably start screaming to get out of the stroller.  But, so far, she really enjoys getting out of the house and people watching.

If I had choose a few words to describe Quinn I would say she is....
-Girly.  I am noticing this a lot more now.  One minute she is super happy and the next minute you would think the world was coming to an end!  I sure do love her girly babbling and squeels though!
-Pensive.  She often looks like she is thinking about something important.  It's pretty cute.
-Independent.  I sometimes wish she was a little more dependent on me, and maybe at some point she will be.  But, Quinn does very well with going to the nursery and playing on her own!  Go Quinny!
 Classic moment.
This was captured "on break" during our "photo shoot." :)

a little bit of fall

Friday, October 11, 2013

We just got back from a fun little trip up north to visit my family.  I think this was Quinn's fourth time flying.  It was definitely a little different this time, now that she sits up and crawls around.  Luckily, she slept for a good hour or so both flights.  Overall, she did really well with the travelling, which I am so thankful for!  My mother knows they way to my heart (and Matt's)--ANYTHING SWEET.  It was really nice to get to spend time with my parents and watch them play with Quinn.
We were soaking up all of the crisp, fall weather.  It was unusually warm, but still cooler than what we are used to.  Quinn LOVED playing with her cousins!
We also celebrated Matt's 27th birthday while we were there.  Another highlight was cruising around town in my sister's mini van with all the kiddos.  I was able to go see my niece and nephew's school and classrooms.  It as so fun!

At one point, all three of them were asleep in the car....it was magical :)

I am taking a little break from blogging (reading and posting), so if you check in regularly you may notice less posting.  I think that blogs can be a source of wonderful inspiration or a source of discontentment.  Unfortunately, I am finding the latter to be more of the case  for me these days.  I just need to get my head on straight again.  :)  I am still working on Lemon Bee though, so please check it out.  I just listed some Christmas cards that my Mom helped me with!  Hope you are enjoying this lovely time of year!

three fact thursday

Thursday, October 3, 2013

1.  We have had an interesting week.  Last weekend Quinn and I caught some bad colds.  We are just now recovering, and Quinn is finally sleeping better at night again.  Our week was filled with a  lot of cuddling, medicine, and skipping out on our usual activities.  It wasn't all bad (ie. the cuddling--which is sadly not the norm anymore), but we were definitely moving at a slower pace than usual.
2.  There were some lovely moments this week.  Florida weather is beginning to be a little more bearable.  Quinn is also having fun crawling around the house more.  She pretty much follows Beacon everywhere.
3.  We get to see some of our favorite Midwesterners very soon, and are so excited!

Hope your week has been going well.  All I have to say is, keep washing those hands and get your flu shot! ;)
